Two striking vintage Russian lacquered papier mache Palekh folklore brooches. The larger of the brooches colourfully depicts a lady looking into a hand mirror surrounded by her flowing locks of golden hair against a black backround. It measures approx 66mm x 44mm. To the reverse can be seen a signature in Cyrillic (as shown in the photos). The second, slightly smaller brooch colourfully depicts a lady & two gentlemen, again set against a black background.. It measures approx 64mm x 40mm. This brooch appears to be unsigned. In good used & clean condition with both rollover clasps in good working order.
