This device increases lower body power by training pitchers to lead with their hips from knee lift. This can be done because there are not any springs in the training device to resist a natural pitchers delivery which starts from their hips. A pitcher uses his own body weight and the gravitational force from his hip movement drops the power plate naturally without any resistance or jerking motion created from springs letting go. This allows the entire back leg and hip to move the pitchers body powerfully away from the rubber into landing.
